The inspiration for this jacket came from the McQueen exhibition 'Savage beauty' held at the V&A museum. From here I delved into the designs of McQueen and found his 'Highland rape' collection and looked at steampunk and 80's punk fashion. I became inspired by 'Sweeney Todd' and the jacket was based on a costume Mrs Lovett may wear in the recent film. I used cotton as the woven fabric fell away from itself similar to how decaying meat would. I also used a mixture of materials to embellish my jacket including leather, free hand embroidery stitching and stuffing.
