I learnt how to knit when I was little and decided that adding it into my work all these years on can add texture and character when designing knitwear.
The texture created by knitting has inspired many of my fashion illustrations and I found that there can be so much potential knitting without it being boring or plain. My favourite way of using knit in my fashion illustrations is by photocopying and enlarging the knitting as it gives me an unlimited amount of knitted pieces ready to create ideas for garments using only one knitted square. Also by enlarging it, the stick becomes much bigger and gives a garment a more contemporary feel.
Finger knitting is also a knitting technique I use quite often use to add something a little different to my work as it visually looks so unique. I love the variation of texture between knitting with needles and finger knitting as the textures, although very different seem to work well side by side. I used simple line cartoons to contrast the bulk of the knitting work.
