Whist working on my current project 'future fashions' I found that bold repeating pattern seemed to be an occurring theme when researching. From this I created a collagraph print of my own of the prints I had found within my research. I used collagraph card and then carved out layers of the card to create negative space. I also added staples, extra card and zip ties to add thicker, more blood elements to my print. I experimented with multiple colours when deciding the final colour and found that navy blue worked the best. The dark colour contrasted well with the bright white negative space yet black was harsh. Using the print, I tried to develop its look by sewing into the surface whilst also adding other materials such as leather. This gave me a vision of how it could potentially look, if printed on a garment.
I then added a colour palette and designed garments from my print, adding the added print in a second colour. I chose a complimentary bright yellow to work with the navy blue and white and found that each colour seemed to 'pop' that little bit more when placed next to each other.
